Mark and Orla Harvey´s Wedding, Cabra Castle, Co. Cavan
We booked the band having seen the website and went along to watch them in the Bot and Madisons.
Prior to the wedding we agreed with one of the band members that we would bring a cd for the 1st 3 songs and on the night the band looked after this for us.
Our meal and speeches ran over so the guys didn’t get on until after 10pm. I think they were supposed to come on about 9pm or so. They were very patient when they realised there would be a bit of a delay and when they eventually got on they played until 12.30am.
Needless to say they went down a storm and as requested started their set with my personal favourite Teenage kicks´. It got everyone onto the dance floor and they stayed there for the rest of the night. There was a mix of young and old at the wedding and the band catered for all tastes which was great. I even made it up on stage myself for a very bad rendition of ‘500 miles’ by the proclaimers and then ‘teenage kicks’ .. again.
The band interacted with the crowd well and didn’t have to resort to the old clichéd party games which make people feel awkward. They let the music speak for itself and everyone had a great night.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this band for any occasion – they were very approachable before the wedding and were able to deal with any queries we had and on the night itself they were very professional..
